My first day of rest…hehehe!
After another couple of months of grueling studies and reports I had my first rest yesterday. Yes! It’s Sem Break!! So, I tried to get caught up on a few things and one of which was indulging in watching movies at home with hubby and the kids.
We started out with Blood: The Last Vampire. Truthfully, I had a lot of expectations for this anime-turned-movie; I watched the anime and I knew the plot basically so it wasn’t really all that bad plot-wise for me. As always, my brain basically filled in the gaps that the movie left out so I basically understood the movie. But a lot was missing in the action scenes. I mean, being used to Asian films and some of the Hollywood films that were choreographed by Stephen Chow and other Asia fight choreographers….I was really looking forward to a very artistic fight scene. I was disappointed. The film makers stuck to the anime fights…with a lot of off shots and semi-freeze frames. I mean those were okay with anime but on alive action…it just didn’t deliver the punch. And more crying out loud, they should just put in sub-titles instead of forcing the Asia actors speak in nearly unintelligeble English!
After that movie we went straight to Star Trek: The Movie…now this was one awesome movie. I was at the edge of my seat most of the time especially when scenes bring out memories of Star Trek that have become a part of me as I was growing up. I love it! And surprisingly, though they were not that oriented with the series, the kids loved it too! My youngest especially. He loved the idea that aliens and humans actually lived and work together. It was a different genre for him, he was more the Alien vs Predator type of kid so this was something new for him and I’m really glad he appreciated it. Also, it helped that hubby knew so much about the series when I couldn’t explain (he was more the James Kirk guy while I was the Picard-type) some things on the movie; hubby takes over. It was wonderful little experience for all of us.
And for our last movie, and this was around 8pm already we went back to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I don’t know, the kids just loves to watch this film over..and over…and over…and over..again! But hey, this is their day so what the heck. Besides, as always it was quite ride watching this movie…I mean, the plot needs a lot of depth but the action like G.I. Joe was superb. But please don’t get me wrong I’m not one of those people who doesn’t understand that one shouldn’t look for depth in animations turned movie and yet I just couldn’t help comparing it to the first one.
